CONCUSSION

redefining wellness

Mild traumatic brain injury, also known as concussion, can affect anyone, at any age. The leading causes of these injuries vary according to age group but are generally motor vehicle accidents, falls, occupational injuries, accidents related to sport, recreational, and playground activities, and assault or violence.

Mild traumatic brain injury is a type of injury resulting from a blow or jolt to the head or body. It is called “mild” because it typically does not involve structural damage to the brain. Symptoms may show up immediately after the injury or can be delayed. Further, the effects of a concussion can be temporary and resolve on their own in time, or they can be life-changing with significant symptoms and impairments in daily life that can last for years.

At Synthera, we take a multi-modal and integrative approach when working with mild traumatic brain injuries. Our treatments focus on the secondary symptoms and the primary injury itself, whether in its acute or chronic phases. We use acupuncture, herbal medicine, food therapy, and other modalities to manage and treat mild traumatic brain injury.
